Our Favorite
"Upscale" Restaurants We thought
that you might be interested in our favorite
"upscale" restaurants. The Outer Banks is
known for its excellent restaurants. These are
our top three: Blue Point Bar and Grill
(252-261-8090) This restaurant has been at
the top of our list since they opened about
fifteen years ago. The food , presentation
and service are consistently excellent. The
restaurant has some sound view tables.
Reservations are difficult to get. Either
call before you come down or very early in your
stay. They serve lunch and dinner.
Kids are welcome, but they don't have much of a
menu for children and the meals are moderately
expensive. A dinner for two with drinks
will be about $80-100 plus tip.The Blue Point is
located in the Waterfront Shops just north of
the water tower in Duck on the sound side.
Meridian 42 (252-261-0420)
We enjoy the creative menu and the decor of
Meridian 42. The Mediterranean influenced
food is different and consistently excellent.
The
restaurant is fairly large and can handle large
parties. They are open for dinner only and
you should get reservations early in your stay.
The prices are very similar to Blue Point.
The restaurant is in a shopping mall just south
of Southern Shores Realty on the same side of
the street. The entrance is on a curve and
comes up quickly so be alert.
JK's (252-473-5253)
This is our favorite restaurant if we want a
quieter and less expensive place to eat.
They specialize in steaks, but also have some
great seafood. Many of the restaurants on
the Outer Banks are noisy so it can be difficult
to carry on a conversation. This is not a
problem at JK's. It's large and has a
number of rooms off the main dining room.
You can get a great meal for about 20% less than
the above restaurants. They are open for
dinner only and don't take reservations. JK's is
located near milepost nine in Kill Devil Hills
on the sound side..
As with nearly all restaurants on the Outer
Banks, the dress code is casual.
In the next News about Duck we'll give you a
list of our less expensive restaurants. If
you have any questions about Outer Banks
restaurants, stop in the store or give us a call
and we'll be glad to try and help you. We
have lived in Southern Shores since 1994 and eat
out a lotl
